SYSTEM KAN-therm Press fittings with WRAS certificate

We are glad to inform that SYSTEM KAN-therm Press utilizing both brass and PPSU plastic press fittings for use with KAN-therm multilayer pipes: 16-63mm was awarded with prestigious WRAS certificate.

The Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS) is a conformity mark that proves that an item complies with high standards set out by Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations in England and Wales, and the equivalent Water Byelaws in Scotland and Northern Ireland which were promulgated in 1999. These regulations set legal requirements for the design, installation, operation and maintenance of plumbing systems, water fittings and water-using appliances and thus, play an important role in protecting public health, safeguarding water supplies and promoting the efficient use of water within customers’ premises across the UK.

On behalf of UK water suppliers special accreditation body was established to promote and facilitate compliance with those regulations - Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS). Although the WRAS was only incorporated in 2008, water companies have been working together for over 100 years to help individuals and organizations comply with byelaws and water fittings regulations.

WRAS rules apply to any water fitting that, once installed, will carry water from the public mains water supply. They contribute to the protection of public health by preventing misuse, waste, undue consumption or incorrect measurement of water and, most importantly, contamination of drinking water. Therefore, WRAS certified approval is issued only after a product has undergone extensive rigorous mechanical and water quality testing by independent laboratories and water suppliers. Moreover, every product has to be re-approved every five years which ensures that the appropriate level of quality is maintained.

A product made of incorrect materials can contaminate water by dissolving metals or encouraging growth of bacteria which can cause an unpleasant taste, odour, or health risk. By purchasing WRAS approved elements, you ensure that the work you do for your customers is always in line with the relevant laws and regulations.
